Single-Handed Sailing with Leonardo Yachts

At Leonardo Yachts, single-handed sailing is not an afterthought, it is one of the core principles behind every Eagle we build. Whether you are sailing an Eagle 38, an Eagle 44, an Eagle 46, or an Eagle 54, each model is designed with the freedom and ease of single-handed sailing in mind.

What is single-handed sailing?

Single-handed sailing means taking the helm and managing the yacht entirely on your own, trimming sails, steering, and handling maneuvers without relying on crew. For many sailors, this represents the ultimate sense of independence. It allows you to head out for a spontaneous afternoon sail or a peaceful evening cruise whenever you feel like it, without coordinating schedules with others.

Designed for effortless control

All Eagle models are equipped with an electric control panel positioned within arm’s length of the helm. From the steering position, you have direct access to essential controls, allowing you to operate the yacht safely and comfortably without leaving your seat. Everything is exactly where you need it to be.

In addition, we offer several upgrades that make sailing even more effortless, for example, electric winches and an electric furling boom. With these options, sail handling can become as simple as pressing a button. You can tailor the level of assistance to your personal preference, whether you enjoy being hands-on or prefer maximum convenience.

Comfort without compromise

The beauty of our design philosophy is that independence does not come at the expense of comfort. While every Eagle is optimized for single-handed performance, each model also features a spacious cockpit. So, when you do wish to invite friends or family on board, there is more than enough room to relax together and enjoy everything an Eagle yacht has to offer. You are never dependent on crew, but you are always ready to share the experience.

Experience It Yourself

We have created a short video in which we take you along for an afternoon of single-handed sailing aboard an Eagle 38. It perfectly captures the ease, balance, and pure enjoyment that define sailing an Eagle.

Curious to see how effortless single-handed sailing can be? We invite you to watch the video and experience it for yourself.
