Recently, the Yanmar team visited our shipyard to install an electric propulsion system in an Eagle 38. The SDe is Yanmar’s electric saildrive solution and represents their first step into fully electric propulsion for sailing yachts. It is a fully integrated system developed in-house by Yanmar, combining the electric motor, saildrive, and control system into one compact, plug-and-play solution.

Designed to deliver a quiet, vibration-free, and emission-free sailing experience, the SDe maintains the reliability, durability, and engineering quality for which Yanmar is known. This Eagle 38 is the first in our fleet to be equipped with a Yanmar electric propulsion system. Together with the Yanmar team, we thoroughly tested both the yacht and the system, and we are very enthusiastic about the results. The electric drive offers a remarkably quiet and smooth experience on the water, perfectly complementing the elegant and effortless sailing character of this 38 ft picnic boat.
